The Homeschoolers’ Gavel Club of Louisville, a part of Toastmasters International, is proud to announce that we are hosting a speech competition for local Middle School and High School homeschooling students on April 1st, 3-5pm at Salt & Light Church in Crestwood, Kentucky.
Students will compete in two groups: 6-8 grade and 9-12 grade. The subject is “How do you define ‘Normal’?”. Contestants will prepare a 5 to 7 minute speech to be delivered in front of a panel of judges. Contestants will be evaluated on content, adherence to time limit, vocal variety, body language/hand gestures, etc. There is no cost to participate, but we do require advance registration. If you choose to compete, please email our Club Secretary, Aleia Lindberg, at firstname.lastname@example.org with the student’s name and grade level. The registration deadline is March 18, 2017.
The top three placements will receive an award certificate. All participants will receive a participation certificate. We are a student-run speech club here in Louisville and meet every Monday afternoon. This is our club project and we are looking forward to sharing the amazing benefits of learning to speak boldly and effectively in front of an audience. We hope you will join us! 🙂
