It’s June 1st and summer is officially here. The summer reading program begins today at the Louisville Free Public Library. It runs for 10-weeks and ends on August 10th.

Your child can earn prizes as they read throughout the summer. But, if you’re new to the LFPL reading program the best part is it comes with the Cultural Pass.

What’s a Cultural Pass?

The Culture Pass allows every child or teen that registers to visit local attractions for free. Children under age 17 can bring one adult member in for free with them as well.

You register as a family so only one adult will get free access per family regardless of how many children are attending with passes.

Some of the locations that are on the pass this year include the Kentucky Science Center, Louisville Zoo, Kentucky Shakespeare, Kentucky Derby Museum, and the Speed Art Museum. You can view the rest of the locations that are included on the pass here.

How to get started

You can register for the Summer Reading Program online here. To pick up your Cultural Pass, you’ll need to visit one of the LFPL locations which you can find here.

You need to have a library card in order to register. But, getting a card is free and easy if you don’t already have one.

You know summer always goes by so fast, so this is something that you’ll want to get started on quickly to take advantage of it.
